Pumps
Question 1: Which pump types are particularly suitable for filtration systems?
OASE recommends Aquamax and Promax series pumps. They convey debris particles up to 8 mm in diameter with no problem..
Your OASE dealer will be happy to assist you in selecting the right pump for your pond.
Question 2: How should a pump be installed?
A pump should be installed at the lowest point relative to the filter intake. This ensures optimal circulation and oxygen enrichment.
Question 3: Which pumps are suitable for watercourses?
Primarily Aquamax pumps are used for watercourses. OASE recommends the Promax or Profimax series if there is substantial height differential.
Question 4: How can the capacity of a pump be changed?
Basically the capacity of all pumps can be adjusted mechanically. With the Aquamax, Promax, Nautilus, and Atlantis series the capacity can be adjusted electronically by changing the speed via the speed control. (In this regard see also the OASE InScenio FM Master 3)
Question 5: Can the capacity of the pump be changed with a dimmer as well?
No. A speed control unit is required for adjusting motors. Lights on the other hand can be adjusted with a dimmer.
Question 6: Is the pump damaged when regulated with a speed control unit?
No. OASE pumps can be throttled with no negative effects.
Question 7: Do I also save power when using a speed control unit?
The speed control unit is a phase gate controller. In this regard energy is also saved. However the savings are not 1 : 1.
The speed control also consumes a certain amount of energy. A general rule of thumb is that with 50% capacity reduction there is energy savings of app. 40%.
Question 8: Can pumps run dry?
No, pumps cannot run dry! This unavoidably results in damage to the shaft and bearing.
Question 9: Can watercourse and fountain attachment be operated with one pump?
Basically yes. The pivot joint can be used for this with the Nautilus and Aquarius series. If two pumps are used, then these can be switched independently from each other.
Question 10: Are solar pumps suitable for operating filtration systems?
No. Solar pumps are fundamentally not suitable for operating filtration systems, because they cannot be used in 24 h operation.
Question 11: What costs do I incur when using pumps?
The costs depend on the power consumption of a pump. Power consumption is specified in Watts for each pump and is based on an hour.
1000 Watt = 1 Kilowatt (KW)
1 KW electricity costs about 12-15 ct.
Question 12: Can I operate a fountain and a water spout with one pump?
Yes this poses no problem with branching unit. An adjustable branching unit is supplied with the pump for the Aquarius and Nautilus series.
Question 13: Can Aquamax pumps be used in a swimming pond?
No. This is not permitted according to the CDE guidelines. The pumps must be installed dry in a shaft below the water level with a minimum clearance of 2 m. Plastic lines must be laid.
Question 14: Are the pumps frost-proof?
No. A pump must be stored in a water-filled container in a frost-free location. Prior to storage the pump can be cleaned with “OASE Special cleaner”.
New generations (2004) Aquamax and Neptune pumps are all equipped with frost protection and can even be frozen into the pond without problem.
.
Question 15: How do I program a Promax pump?
1. Press the learning key on the receiver unit. (1 sec.)
2. Push any button desired on the remote control. (3 Sec.)
3. Afterwards the individual pumps can be switched,
or the capacity can be stored.
The 2nd pump always takes the set capacity of the first pump. Operation with different capacity is not possible.
Frage 16: Can Promax pumps be installed dry?
No. They are designed for underwater operation only. They are not impermeable in the pressure duct area.
Question 17: How do I connect filter and skimmer to a Promax pump?
A filter is connected on the pressure side with a 2” line. A skimmer is connected on the suction side with a stepped hose adapter to one of the two pumps.
Question 18: Can the pump cable be shortened or the plug dismantled?
No. No this changes the design of the pump. The pump no longer satisfies the VDE guidelines. The guarantee is invalidated.
Question 19: Can pumps also be operated with solar modules?
No. Special solar pumps are required for this. These pumps are powered with direct current. 230 volt pumps have alternating current.
