"We never would have thought that using SchlixX Plus would produce such an effect." Dr. rer. Nat. Ulrich, independent limnology expert
Measuring approximately 27 ha in size, the Kleiner Rußweiher in Eschenbach is not only Bavaria's largest lake-front mud bath spa but is also used for fishing and boating. This idyll is popular among visitors, campers and nature lovers alike.
The bottom of the lake was covered in a layer of sludge up to 1 m thick that was steadily increasing each year and had a high organic content and a foul smell.
Due to the size of the body of water, a boat designed specifically for applying SchlixX Plus was used to ensure that the treatment was applied as evenly as possible. In 2019, roughly 16.9 ha of the lake's surface area was treated with 7.5 t of SchlixX Plus as a first step.
Five months after SchlixX Plus was applied, a sediment test showed that the sludge in the treated area had decreased by an average of 22 cm.
These 2019 results were enough to convince Eschenbach council to commission the application of another 9 t of SchlixX Plus in 2020.
We will be reporting on the further monitoring and results.
SchlixXPlus receives the German Award for Sustainability from the German Institute for Service Quality. Under the patroness Dr. Brigitte Zypries, former Federal Minister of Economics, and B.A.U.M. e.V. chairwoman Yvonne Zwick, the jury selected OASE as one of three award winners.
