Your aquarium is now ready, it looks beautiful and offers you real satisfaction. Now the next vacation is planned and you ask yourself, "What do I need to be aware of?" We will give you a few tips of how you can go on holiday without worrying about your underwater paradise.
If you want to use your automatic feeder, such as the FishGuard von OASE, you can set feed quantity feed intervals individually. Always check the device before the holiday so that you are sure that feeding will function properly. If a person will handle the feeding, we recommend that you pre-package the portions beforehand. This way you can prevent overfeeding.
If you are going on a longer holiday, it is useful to obtain the services of a fish sitter, who will look after the technology and aquarium inhabitant at regular intervals. Even if feeding is automated, a power outage, for example, can cripple all the aquarium technology. Provide some instructions concerning the water level, mark the level at which water should be added. Give the person clear instructions beforehand and provide the person with your telephone number for "emergencies". With these preparations you can avoid major catastrophes.
Before heading out, you should thoroughly clean the aquarium again. Clean the aquarium and filter, trim plants and do large water change (30 to 50%).
