Different aquarium equipment is required to maintain the ecological balance in the aquarium. More or less technology is used in the tank depending on the aquarium type (fresh water or marine aquarium) and based on the fish stock, as well as the number of plants used. As a rule filter, pump and heater are part of the basic equipment of every aquarium.
First and foremost a good filter that ensures clean water and assures the survival of your fish, is crucial for a clean aquarium: In conjunction with a partial water change it keeps the eco system aquarium in balance, generates flow, absorbs substances that cause turbidity and enriches the water with oxygen. The excreta of the aquarium inhabitants are decomposed to harmless compounds by the bacteria that settle in the filter media.
The basis for selection of an aquarium filter is first, the size of the aquarium, measured by the water quantity. The second important criterion for selection of the filter would have to be the inhabitants of the aquarium with their metabolism rate in the aquarium water. As a general rule: It is better to select a filter system that is over-dimensioned than a filter system that is too small.
